Dr. Baltej Parhar was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta. He was always very active growing up, playing community basketball and soccer for many years. He also joined a competitive bhangra dance team and performed professionally for 10 years. After completing his Bachelors degree at the University of Calgary, he began volunteering with stroke patients at the Association for the Rehabilitation of the Brain Injured (ARBI). At ARBI, he worked alongside physiotherapists and occupational therapists to help stroke patients regain their strength and get back to doing their daily activities, solidifying his passion for physical medicine. So, he decided to move to Toronto, Ontario to attend CMCC and pursue a career as a chiropractor. After graduating with his Doctor of Chiropractic degree, a 4-year program, Dr. Parhar came back to his hometown to share his passion for healthy living and help people to achieve optimal health.
What attracted him to the chiropractic profession was the concept of providing high quality health care without resorting to medications or invasive surgeries. He believes that anyone can achieve a healthy state of being through a nutritious diet, regular exercise and good lifestyle habits. He uses a combination of education, lifestyle advice, joint manipulation, soft tissue therapy, exercise prescription, laser therapy, and self-management techniques to help his patients achieve their goals. His goal as a healthcare practitioner is to find the root cause of the issue with his patients, not to simply mask their pain. He strives to teach patients how to take care of themselves, rather than becoming dependent on him to fix them. Dr. Parhar is also bilingual and is comfortable speaking to patients in Punjabi.
